First Day- September 2013

Happy September folks!!

It sure felt like fall up in the Northland yesterday with a blast of fresh, cool air.  We spent the majority of the day outdoors, cutting down some trees, hauling brush, digging a new fire pit (and covering the old fire pit), picking vegetables at my neighbor Aunty Pam’s garden and playing.  Our kids are true outdoorsmen already and LOVED every second playing, getting muddy and finding creature.  You’ll see the jars they are holding in some photos.  Yesterdays creatures were a small snake that Paul caught and a grasshopper that I caught (I don’t do snakes….eww). We, of course, had to release them before heading in to bed so they could go find their snake and grasshopper mommies.

It was a really great day and makes me very thankful for our little family and our rural up north living.

First Day- August 2013

We had a busy first day (even though we were home the majority of the day.)  The pile of dishes in my sink in the morning inspired me to do some DEEP cleaning which involved rearranging my living furniture.  We played outside, had a picnic, did some laundry, ran some errands (kid free…Thanks Nana), and prepared for our busy weekend that includes a wedding (kid free…Thanks Sadie).

SIDE NOTE:  It is a daily struggle to keep clothes on my kids.  Most days Emmy prefers to be nude so it was a BIG step that she had to actually wear clothes for “First Day.”  Pardon the undies shots :)

(I LOVE LOVE that picture of Tanner with Hattie.  He makes her giggle.  It is truly heartwarming to watch)

I know.  I picture of a sign seems silly but I was at TJ Max 2 days ago and saw this sign.  I have been singing this song to all my children since they were in utero so it holds a special place in my heart.  I LOVE my new sign.
