Daily Dose

My baby....

She's growing quicker than I care to think about it. Soon she'll be telling me stories, jumping, running and playing with her older siblings.

But...today she's simply my sweet, smiley baby who needs to be carried everywhere, nurses when she's hungry, and nuzzles up for a mid afternoon nap in my arms. I'm eating up every minute.

Daily Dose

He's 3.5. I by no means think its necessary for a kid to start reading and writing at an obscenely young age. That being said, Tanner has always showed an interest in letters, writing and reading. Today, this is the activity he chose to do with me while his sisters napped. He had a choice of SpongeBob memory, a math game and this. He chose this. What a little man. Of course the upper case letters aren't sufficient for him so he has to draw in their lower case companion and try and spell the 3 or 4 letter word that is on the back of the cards.

This kid.

I am amazed daily by his intelligence and ability. Just another reason for me to stay well-read and educated. I don't want him leaving me in the intellectual dust.

Daily dose

Today Emmy Lu sprung off our coffee table, getting some decent air. She lands on both feet in a crouch, Spider-Man style. She then let's out a giggle and runs away.

Oh yeah, and she was nude.

Awesome.

I had to contain my shock, laughter and how obviously impressed I was with her agility in order to tell her that performing such acts were dangerous. I gave her the obligatory "I'm your mommy and I don't want you to get hurt."

But let's get real, the girl could probably make a living as the worlds youngest stunt woman.

This girl sure gives me a run for my money. Oh Emmy Lu, I hope you keep firing on all cylinders. You will move mountains one day....or at least jump over them.
(This obviously isn't her nude stunt work but it was a different adventure we had today. Mud. It calls her in every time)

Daily dose- Naptime Edition

I know my children won't always take naps. Heck, some days they don't take naps now. (Those days are rough)

I love my children and value our time together BUT, boy oh boy, is it sweet when they are simultaneously napping.

For those of you without children or with only one child, naptime may be something taken for granted.

As a mom if three youngsters I am telling you....CHERISH the quiet moments. Use the time to recharge, regroup, refresh.

As a matter of fact, why the heck am I blogging right now??? I'm going to sit in peace and relax before my (beautiful) monsters wake from their slumber.

Daily Dose, September 22nd

Hattie had her first successful finger foodexperience  today, Kix. She concentrated so hard to get one measly little ball in her mouth then was so happy with herself. A good reminder that it really is the little things that matter.

Daily Dose, September 20th

I have no great aspirations to be a famously pinned and read blogger. Heck, that would require me to post more than the once a month First Day posts that I, at times, struggle posting.

What I do aspire to do is remember these days of my life, OUR lives.

Being a mom to 3 children under the age of four, and a husband that is often gone due to work and school schedules, I sometimes find myself getting swallowed by the big job of keeping us all up and running on any given day.

I think (hope) I am doing a great job at living and loving in "the moment," soaking up my kids and all they encompass.  The problem is that with three little creatures and me hanging out solo most days, these "moments" both good and bad are shot at me like rapid fire.

Each night I try and fill Paul in on atleast one funny, quirky, odd, frustrating, joyful moment.

Here in lies my idea. Instead of just telling them to Paul and letting the memories slip through our faulty brains as the years pass, I am going to blog them. Some nights it may be just a short antidote, others may be filled with any wisdom or lesson I can take away with it.  Either way, I can document theses days with my babies before they are long gone.

I'm calling it my Daily Dose. Feel free to follow along, join in, or share your daily dose of life moments too.

Tonight's Daily dose:

Rainbow Magic

Tanner ran excitedly in the door from outside. Hattie was in her jumperoo whileI finished cooking supper.  He took my hand and lead me outside to proudly show me that he had spotted a rainbow in the sky. Paul and Emmy Lu were busy playing across the yard.
"Look mom, a rainbow. Maybe we should follow it. That would be great idea!!"
(Side note: he says that many things are "great ideas." Few of them actually are)
I explained how we couldn't chase the rainbow because that would mean we would have to cross the street and he agreed it would be too dangerous. Instead we stood there in awe of a beautifully, bright rainbow contemplating the "magic" surrounding it and whether or not he would be able to slide down it.
I didn't feel it was the right moment to explain light refraction or laws of physics to a 3.5 year old so instead just answered his questions with more questions.
I'm in awe of his creativity and fresh look at life. As his mother I hope he always finds something to inspire him and make him feel part of something as magical as a 3 year old spotting rainbows.
